How to use the weight converter
- Type the amount in the Value box. Commas and spaces are ignored, so 1,250 works.
- Pick the unit you have in From and the unit you want in To. The ⇄ button swaps them.
- Read the answer, then scroll the table underneath to see the same weight in every other unit, each with its own Copy button. Use Decimal places to round more or less.
Gold and silver are usually priced per tola in Pakistan and India, and per troy ounce in international markets, so both are included alongside the everyday units.

The pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kg by the 1959 international yard and pound agreement, and every other imperial weight in the table is built from it, so those factors carry no rounding error.
Formula
result = value × (kilograms per source unit) ÷ (kilograms per target unit)
The tool converts through kilograms in the middle. That keeps the table consistent: converting pounds to stone and then to kilograms gives the same result as going straight from pounds to kilograms.
Worked examples
- 70 kg to pounds: 70 × 1 ÷ 0.45359237 = 154.3236 lb. So 70 kg is about 154 lb 5 oz.
- 11 stone 4 lb to kilograms: 11 stone = 11 × 6.35029318 = 69.8532 kg and 4 lb = 1.8144 kg, giving 71.6676 kg.
- 1 tola in grams: exactly 11.6638038 g, so a 10-tola gold bar is 116.638038 g, which is about 3.75 troy ounces.
- 1 US short ton in kilograms: 2,000 × 0.45359237 = 907.18474 kg, while a metric tonne is 1,000 kg and a UK long ton is 1,016.05 kg.
Mass, weight and the tola
Strictly, kilograms and pounds measure mass, while weight is the force of gravity on that mass. In everyday life and on every scale at street level the two are used interchangeably, and this tool converts mass.
The tola is a traditional South Asian unit based on the weight of a silver rupee. In 1956 it was fixed at 11.6638038 g (180 grains) in India, and Pakistan uses the same value for gold and silver. Some jewellers still quote 11.664 g, and in some local trade contexts you may hear 12.5 g for a "tola of ghee" or other goods, so confirm the unit with the seller. The conversions here use the standard 11.6638038 g.

| 1 kg | 2.2046 lb | 0 st 2.2 lb |
| 5 kg | 11.023 lb | 0 st 11 lb |
| 10 kg | 22.046 lb | 1 st 8 lb |

| 90 kg | 198.42 lb | 14 st 2 lb |
| 100 kg | 220.46 lb | 15 st 10 lb |
For a fast mental estimate of kilograms to pounds, double the number and add a tenth of the result: 70 kg becomes 140, plus 14, giving about 154 lb. Going from pounds to kilograms, halve the number and subtract a tenth of the half: 154 lb becomes 77, minus 7.7, giving about 69.3 kg. These shortcuts land within a percent of the exact value, which is fine for a luggage allowance but not for a lab sample or a medicine dose.
Accuracy and limits
Results are exact to the digits shown; the Decimal places setting only rounds the display. Very large or very small values switch to scientific notation. The converter does not handle compound entries like "5 ft 8 in" in a single box; convert each part separately and add them. Medical dosing should always follow the label or a pharmacist, not a converter.
Frequently asked questions
